A factional leader of the Oyo State National Union of Road Transport Workers, Lateef Salako, also known as Eleweomo, has been killed in Ibadan during a Peoples Democratic Party local government congress.
Until his death, Mr Salako was involved in a major conflict with his archrival, Lateef Akinsola Oluwatoki (aka Tokyo) who is the state chairman of the transport union. The deceased enjoyed the support of the state governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala who propped him up against Mr Oluwatoki.
Mr Oluwatoki was spotted yesterday in Isolo, Lagos, among the crowd waiting for the burial of the late Fuji musician, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister.Until his death, Mr Salako was involved in a major conflict with his archrival, Lateef Akinsola Oluwatoki (aka Tokyo) who is the state chairman of the transport union. Violence, which has been linked to political influence in the state, had marred the activities of the transport union, for years. Most violent attacks on people in the state have equally been traced to members of the union.
