Seven Chinese are now in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), following the discovery of seven drums of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) on their premises.
The suspects were identified as Li Tao, Wang Dong, Di Sheng, Yun Di, Tony Yang,Cheng Chao and Ping Mei.
The suspects were arrested at the weekend by a team of anti-vandalism operatives from the Lagos State Security and Civil Defence Command led by the Zonal Commandant of the Zone “A” Command Headquarters in Lagos, Mr Sam Oyemachi, who was at the Diamond Estate, Isheri Olofin area of the state to investigate complaints by residents of the estate that their wells were allegedly being polluted by fuel from the vandalised Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipelines behind the estate.
Also arrested was Helen Osuah, a house wife from Edo State and her 11-year-old daughter, who were allegedly picked up at the pipeline site behind the Diamond Estate, where they were said to have gone to scoop fuel for their personal use.
