An Oyo State High Court will, on Wednesday, begin proceedings on the bail application filed by the Senate Leader, Senator Teslim Folarin, and three others over their alleged roles in the murder of the factional leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Abdul Lateef Salako, a.k.a. Eleweomo.
The suspects, who are currently being detained at the Agodi Prison, Ibadan, had filed bail application at the High Court seeking for their release pending the time when the proper charges would be brought against them.
After their arrest, they were arraigned at the Chief Magistrates’ Court, Iyaganku on a two-count charge of murder and conspiracy.
Chief Magistrate Shakirat Badrudeen had, on January 4, ordered the accused to be remanded in Agodi Prison till January 14. After listening to the counsel for the suspects, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), she ordered the suspects be remanded in prison custody since the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case.
The application, which was supported with 44-page affidavit, was in pursuant of their release from detention over the alleged murder of Eleweomo.
