PDP Primaries: Subsume your personal ambitions’ PDP tells Atiku, others

THE leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP yesterday urged former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and Mrs Sarah Jibril who lost out in last Thursday’s Presidential primaries to subsume their personal ambitions and work for President Goodluck Jonathan’s victory.The leadership of the PDP also urged all those who emerged as candidates for the party at all levels to immediately commence a process of fence mending as that would enable the party approach the forthcoming elections as one united entity.

According to the party in a statement signed yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Professor Rufai Ahmed Alkali, since President Goodluck Jonathan has emerged as the party’s flagbearer for the April Presidential election, it has become imperative for them to join hands with to ensure his success at the polls.‘’We wish to also commend the efforts of all our aspirants in putting up a spirited fight and urge all those who were not successful to subsume their personal ambitions and work towards the overall success of our great Party in the General Elections.
‘’The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wishes to commend all those who contributed to the success of the Presidential nomination Convention which held on the 13th of January 2011.
‘’Particularly, we wish to place on record our appreciation to the National Convention Planning Committee, the various sub-committees, the security Agencies, the Press, the delegates, the observers and all those who saw to the success of the epoch making convention.
‘’We thank our Presidential Candidate for the conciliatory words in his acceptance speech and call on all Party members to quickly rally around him and deliver victory to our great Party in all the elections holding in April, 2011.
