Bus conductor docked over rape of 35-yr-old woman

A 45-year-old bus conductor was, yesterday, in Lagos, arraigned for allegedly having unlawful canal knowledge of a 35-year-old woman.
The accused, Oludamilare Adekunle, is standing trial at a Yaba Magistrate Court on a two-count charge of conspiracy and rape.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Chinalu Uwadire, told the court that the accused, with others still at large, had on January 24, at 12 noon at 29, Igbeyinadun St., Makoko-Yaba, conspired and raped the woman (names withheld).
He alleged that the woman was ambushed and raped on her way to a market in the area. Uwadire said the offence contravened Sections 358 and 516 of the Criminal Code, laws of Lagos State. The Magistrate, Mrs Demi Ajayi, adjourned the case till March 2 for further hearing.
