Four members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) died during their service year while 11 are to repeat the scheme for various breaches of the ethics of the corps, the Niger state coordinator, Mr. Dauda Daniel Dauda, has disclosed. He made the disclosure yesterday at the passing out parade of the Batch A corps members in Minna where he stated that the affected corps members violated the NYSC by-laws hence, were sanctioned appropriately to serve as a deterrent to others.
11 will repeat the service year, adding that four will serve some extension of service according to their various level of simplicities in the offence committed. “There are those who lost their bearings and along the way, failed to conform with the ethic, norms and ideals of the NYSC scheme; those few will be sanctioned appropriately according to the dictates of the NYSC by-laws,” he said.
Those who died include Iheme Helen Oluchi, Andrew Anthony, Job Michael and Oviosun Ogoheme Antonia whom he said died of various health and natural reasons.
