KIDNAPPERS have abducted a Pharmacist in Asaba, Delta State capital, demanding the sum of N150 million as ransom before he could be let off the hook.
The victim, said to be a holder of chieftaincy title (names withheld), runs a pharmaceutical shop in Onitsha, Anambra State.
State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Charles Muka, who confirmed the story, said, “he was abducted, yesterday, (Tuesday) afternoon at a building site.”
Meanwhile, the 76-year-old mother of a former bank chief executive abducted sometimes ago, whose kidnappers had demanded 200 US dollars as ransom, has been freed.
Mr Muka told our reporter, yesterday, afternoon that “she has been released.” Asked if ransom was eventually paid, his response was rhetorical as he said, “we (police) don’t encourage ransom.”
The Umunede victim, Madam Janeth Ukpaka, was seized at gunpoint, an operation the Police described as an inside job, which led to the arrest of her two domestic servants.
