Obasanjo shuns journalists at Oyinlola’s birthday service
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday shunned journalists at the 60th birthday anniversary sevice held for ex-governor of Osun
State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, at St Michael Anglican Church, Okuku.
When he was greeted by reporters inside the church, he merely shook his head. He repeated the same gesture when reporters asked him some questions.
In his sermon, Rt. Rev. Abiodun Olaoye called on leaders of the country to show greater commitment to the development of the country. He said it was the duty of all leaders to make the nation a better place for Nigerians, noting that Oyinlola left the state better than he met it.
In his remarks, Oyinlola said he was grateful to God and all the people that had helped himt rhough life.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, who was on a trip to Abuja, sent a delegation of monarchs to the ceremony. Also at the event were Oyo State Governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala; Kwara State Governor, Dr. Bukola Saraki; former Governors Olusegun Agagu (Ondo); Segun Oni (Ekiti); as well as erstwhile deputy governors of Anambra and Osun, Virgy Etiaba and Mrs. Olusola Obada respectively; as well as the wife of an ex-governor of Ekiti State, Mrs. Feyi Fayose.
Also at the ceremony were the Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Iyiola Omisore; Chairman, Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission, Senator Isiaka Adeleke; Minister of Youth Development, Chief Olasunkanmi Akinlabi; former presidential adviser, Chief Titi Ajanaku; and Senator Ayo Arise while Navy Captain Oladipo Olanrewaju represented the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Oluseyi Petirin.
