LOSER!: Sarah Jibril Sues Goodluck Jonathan

For getting only one vote during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary election, a defeated aspirant during the contest, Mrs Sarah Jibril, has alleged foul play and has gone to the Federal High Court in Abuja to stop President Goodluck Jonathan from parading himself as winner of the election.
The Director-General of the Sarah Jibril Campaign Organisation, Musa Ajogie, told newsmen in Kaduna, on Tuesday, that they were also asking the court to declare as null and void the said primary election where Jonathan was declared winner, alleging that what the PDP did was ridiculous and had set a bad precedence.
Mrs Jibril also asked the court to declare that Atiku Abubakar was not the Northern consensus candidate for the PDP and joined President Jonathan, Mallam Adamu Ciroma, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Attahiru Jega and Atiku Abubakar in the suit. “They told the court in their affidavit that consensus as verdict has nothing to do with voting. Consensus means unanimous agreement on an issue or on a candidate not by voting.”

Man Kills 52 Years Old Uncle With Screw Driver

Just a week into the New Year when the average person was still savouring the joy of transiting from 2010 to 2011, a 32-year-old man murdered his uncle. TOYOSI OGUNSEYE reports that the suspect, now being held by the police, provides insight into what led to his rash action

Lanre Ajewole kept mute when he was asked why he murdered his uncle. He said that the incident of January 8, 2011, remained a mystery to him.

That day, Ajewole, who doubles as a painter and an electrician, entered his house located at 10, Ramonuoke Street, Itire, Lagos to sleep when all hell broke loose.

His aunt, Biodun, was peeling yam in the compound when he sauntered in. She said that he bumped rudely into her as he made to enter the house. And that was how trouble started.

Alleged N25bn fraud: EFCC trails Igbinedion

TROUBLES seem unending for former governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Nosahare Igbinedion, as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, will today file fresh charges against him at an Abuja Federal High Court over an alleged N25billion scam.
It was reliably gathered yesterday that the former number one citizen of Edo State, who had been under EFCC surveillance since 2008, had been placed under a watch list and most likely would be declared wanted anytime this week by the anti-graft agency.
The EFCC, according to a source, sent the watch list to all border points in the country to forestall him from jetting out of Nigeria.
Igbinedion was last sighted at the wedding of Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s daughter in company of his friends on January 8, 2011, in Abuja.
The source further revealed that the decision to declare him wanted was a prelude to issuing an international arrest warrant on him to enable Interpol track him down wherever he was hiding in the world.

Oshiomhole launches one student, one desk, total school transformation

Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole
Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole

LIKE one man, one vote, for credible election, Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has come up with another innovation to boost quality education in the country.
He has launched one student, one desk, in Edo Schools, saying it will enhance quality education and reduce examination malpractice, worsened by over crowded classrooms.
“When students are packed together in a classroom like sardines, there is the tendency for examination malpractice to thrive. Students will cheat and try to spy on each other when they are crowded in a classroom.”
Oshiomhole believes one student, one desk will provide a conducive environment for students to learn in comfort and ease. He said that our students deserve the best facilities in school in order for them to excel in their academic pursuits.
He pointed out that the objective of his administration is to make public schools attractive enough for those in private schools to want to leave and attend the public ones.

The bridal make-up comes up almost every weekend. From one job, I get another job and I get another job from that one. Bridal make-up has been very okay.

I do that as well. I just finished working on a hotel in Calabar. It took me almost three months to complete the job.

"Juju" (Black Magic) Fails Bank Robber

A middle-aged man, Danlami Ahmed, has been arrested by the police for attempting to rob a new generation bank in Minna, Niger State, with the aid of Juju.

Ahmed was arrested on Thursday after using Juju to beat the bank’s mechanical and human security networks to gain entry into the banking hall.

Saturday Tribune gathered that the suspect who hails from Nassarawa State but was residing in the Sauka Kahuta area of the Niger State capital, was spotted by a bank official in the Shocked bulk room packing naira notes into a ‘Ghana must go’ he had brought with him.

However, the bank member, who saw Ahmed taking the money into the bag, reportedly tapped him on the back and asked him what he was doing there.

An alarm was raised, which attracted the security men attached to the bank, leading to his (Ahmed’s) arrest.

When questioned, Ahmed, who had the charms under the dress he wore, allegedly said he had been in the business for some time and that the charm was given to him by his grandfather.

He said with the aid of the charm he had the power to disappear from anywhere and would not be seen while raiding any bank.

The suspect was later led to his Sauka Kahuta residence where the police searched the premises.

A senior police officer who preferred to remain anonymous confirmed the news saying investigations into the matter had commenced.

Ogun PDP: Iyabo Obasanjo, Olurin pick INEC forms

The controversy surrounding the primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State is unending as the two factions of the party, which held separate congresses, claimed to have picked the nomination forms of the Independent National Electoral Commission for those they elected.

In effect, the PDP headquarters may face a Herculean task in determining the authentic governorship, as well as other candidates of the party in the state in the April elections.

Reports had indicated that the candidates elected at the congress of a faction of the party loyal to Governor Gbenga Daniel were contacted to pick the INEC nomination forms on Thursday, with Alhaji Gboyega Isiaka picking the form as the Ogun PDP governorship candidate.

But the governorship candidate elected at the congress loyal to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Maj.-Gen. Adetunji Olurin (retd.), also claimed on Friday that he had picked and filled the INEC nomination form at the national headquarters of the party in Abuja.

The protracted crisis in the state PDP had compelled the feuding parties to elect different candidates from parallel congresses for the state and national elections. They also filed the names of their representatives to the national office of the PDP.

Minister of Justice, George Chaponda: To table the bill in parliament

Farting is natural but nature to the ‘disciplinarian’ can even be banned. Government wants people who enjoy fouling air should be punishable by law if Parliament passes the Local Courts Bill of 2010.
The bill also proposes to punish any idle and disorderly person and drunken persons who cause nuisances.

Snooker dispute sparks deadly clashes in Nigeria

BAUCHI, Nigeria (Reuters) - Clashes between Christian and Muslim youths in central Nigeria triggered by a game of snooker have killed four people and led to the burning of houses, churches and mosques, police said on Friday.
Residents said the dispute in Tafawa Balewa, in Bauchi state, started when a man from the Muslim Hausa ethnic group refused to pay for a snooker game on Wednesday evening.
The snooker club owners, from the mostly Christian Sayawa ethnic group, threw him out but he returned with a gang of friends and tried to set the building ablaze, witnesses said.
Several houses and places of worship were torched as rioting broke out the following morning, leading the police to call in reinforcements from the northern states of Gombe and Kano and the local government to impose a dusk-to-dawn curfew.
"We cordoned off the area in order to prevent a spill over of the crisis to other places," Bauchi state police commissioner Mohammed Abdulkadir Indabawa said.

DDC machines hijacked in Edo

THE Direct Data Capturing, DDC, machines and officials of the Independent National Eldectoral Commission, INEC,  at the Ebenezer Primary School off Ihama Road, GRA, Benin City, Edo State, were, yesterday, allegedly said to have been taken to unknown destinations by some men, who were said to have come to the registration centre in a jeep.
This came as two corps members and five others have been allegedly arrested in Bonny Local Government Area, Rivers State, for allegedly stealing three DDC machines used for the ongoing voters registration exercise.
But the Public Relations Officer attached to the INEC office in Benin, Mrs. Sule denied that the electoral material and official were whisked away to unknown place by any one, saying that officials of the commission attached to the unit brought in the machines to the office when they found that they were malfunctioning.
An eye witness account told Vanguard that they had gone to the registration unit as early as 6.00 am to take a booking, adding that at about 9.00 am, only two persons were registered before the machine was taken away to unknown destination by INEC officials.

Presidency is undemocratic, says Waku

Still fuming over over the presidency’s recent comment that he is not a  democrat, Senator Joseph Waku yesterday accused the presidency of  rather being undemocratic.
Waku, who represented Benue North-West Senatorial District between 1999/2003, had in a national daily (not Vangaurd) accused President Goodluck Jonathan of inducing delegates to secure his victory during the just concluded Peoples Democratic Party’ PDP, presidential primaries.
But the Jonathan-Sambo Campaign Organisation has dismissed Waku’s claim, accusing him of harboring anti-democratic tendencies
Briefing newsmen in Abuja, in response Waku said: “I don’t know what the presidency mean by saying that I am not a democrat.
Having got three certificates through democratic processes and then, you turn round to say this man is not a democrat because according to you, a mischievous magazine had maliciously published an attitude of which was baseless and unfounded, that statement is not tenable.
“Rather, they are undemocratic. Democracy is about expressions; freedom of speech and freedom of expressions and I remain the defender of democracy in and out of Chambers.

The corps member, whose identity was not immediately ascertained was posted as one of the ad-hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to register voters at Oko, a riverine community near Asaba.
The state police command, it was learnt had engaged the services of divers to fish out his corpse. PDP dares INEC over primaries

A FRESH showdown looms in the polity as the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday dared the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, saying it cannot stop it from conducting fresh primaries in some states. The party which has vowed to go ahead with the polls, said: “INEC has no powers to reject the list submitted to it by any political party. It has no such power. We will fix appropriate time to meet to resolve all logistics problems, but we are going ahead with the re_run election.”
The leadership of the party also picked holes with some of the activities of INEC, stressing that the Commission’s task of preparing timetable in the first place for political parties was an unwarranted incursion into the internal activities of PDP and others.
INEC, a creation of law
Answering questions from newsmen at PDP’s National Secretariat, the Party’s National Legal Adviser, Chief Olusola Oke said: “INEC is a creation of law, it cannot appropriate to itself power that is not given by law. PDP is also a creation of the constitution, we know our rights and limitations under the constitution. I believe that this will not really generate controversy. We are still doing our internal process. By the time we conclude it we will send our list to INEC and INEC is under obligation to accept it.
“I do not think that INEC can decree that we will not be able to conclude our primaries. We will do. I trust that when we have opportunity to meet with them we will explain our position to them, they will also explain their position and there will be understanding.

SMART OR SLACK?: Mercy "Gorimakpa" Johnson Shaves Her Hair For N10 Million

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Aaaaaargh! My favorite screen goddess Mercy Johnson is now completely bald. The man responsible is none other than Michael Jaja, the director of the movie she is currently working on. In order to play the part of a widow in the movie, she has had to shave off all her hair. Nollywood fans will recall that this is not the first time that Mercy J will shave off her hair in order to interpret a role. She also shaved her hair off for the 2009 movie Before the Light, in which she played a cancer victim. The willingness of Mercy Johnson to continue to go to such lengths to interpret her roles continues to endear her to movie makers and fans alike. On the upside, the shaved head gives her an edgy, extreme look that is intriguing, refreshing, and still sexy (see pics below).

Uche Jombo is another actress who recently shaved off all her hair in order to play a role in a movie. Uche shaved of her hair for her role in her 2010 movie, Holding Hope, which she co-produced with Emem Isong. Her hair has begun to grow back now, and I am sure a lot of people will be watching Mercy J's hairline to see how soon her hair will begin to grow back also. Hmm, whoever said acting was easy. No be small thing o!

WORLD RECORD: World's Youngest Grand Father Is a 29 Year Old Briton
