Three injured in gas explosion on a Pipeline

Three men are in critical condition at the emergency unit of the Lagos University teaching Hospital (LUTH) following a gas explosion at a workshop at Iyana-Ipaja.

The incident happened at the M.O Owolabi metal workshop on Wednesday about 2.30pm. Six of the workers were attempting to fill a metal cutting machine with industrial gas when the gas cylinder went up in flames and burnt three of them.

Prisoner loses court claim over lack of exercise

A prisoner who sued for up to £50,000 damages over a lack of exercise while in segregation has lost his High Court action.
Leslie Malcolm, 46, complained that he was not given an hour in the open air each day during the 159 days he was detained at HMP Frankland in County Durham in 2007.
He asked Mr Justice Sweeney to award him compensation against the Ministry of Justice - which denied liability - alleging misfeasance in public office and a breach of his human rights.

Jos residents reel from twin blasts that killed tens

It was supposed to be filled with church goers and revelers celebrating Christmas, but the streets of Jos, the capital city of Plateau State Saturday resembles that a ghost town as residents of the town mostly stayed indoors a day after a series of bombs went off across the city, maiming hundreds and killing tens of people.
